Reef Endurance ROX 0.8 is a pharma-grade activated carbon for aquarium water clarity. Its 1,300 m2/g surface area removes yellowing, toxins, and contaminants quickly. Ultra-low dust and a 97 min. hardness rating mean less rinsing and less media waste.
Reef Endurance ROX 0.8 is a pharmaceutical-grade activated carbon made from extruded pellets and washed with hydrochloric acid for purity. It is one of the most absorptive carbons available, with a surface area of 1,300 m2/g and an iodine number of 1000 minimum. Those two numbers measure how much a carbon can absorb. The higher they are, the more it pulls out of your water and the faster it works.
ROX 0.8 removes yellowing pigments, medications, toxins, contaminants, and other irritants that degrade water quality and stress fish and corals. Its ultra-low dust content and a ball-pan hardness rating of 97 minimum mean the pellets hold together well, require very little rinsing, and won't break down into fine particles that pass through reactor screens. A dose of 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons, placed in a media reactor, canister filter, or fine mesh bag in moderate flow, is enough to keep water visibly clear. Replace every two weeks or as needed.
Pharmaceutical-grade activated carbon, washed with hydrochloric acid
Surface area (BET): 1,300 m2/g for high-capacity absorption
Iodine number: 1000 minimum, indicating strong overall contaminant removal
Ball-pan hardness: 97 minimum, so pellets resist breaking down in reactors
Ultra-low dust content requires very little pre-rinsing compared to most standard carbons
Methylene blue absorption: 24 g/100g, confirming removal of organic dyes and pigments
Neutral pH, so it won't affect your tank's water chemistry
Particle size under 0.60 mm, with 1% ash content
Available in three sizes: 1/4 gallon, 1/2 gallon, and 1 gallon
Reef tanks where yellowing of the water is reducing light penetration to corals
Systems recovering from a medication treatment that need to clear residual drugs from the water
Tanks with high bioloads where dissolved organics and odors accumulate quickly
Hobbyists running a media reactor who want a dense, low-dust pellet carbon
Aquarists who want to use less media volume while maintaining strong absorption capacity
Any tank where water clarity and color are a priority
Media Type: Pharmaceutical-grade extruded pellet activated carbon
Surface Area (BET): 1,300 m2/g
Iodine Number: 1000 minimum
Ball-Pan Hardness: 97 minimum
Methylene Blue Absorption: 24 g/100g
Particle Size: Less than 0.60 mm
Ash Content: 1%

Compatible Systems: Freshwater and saltwater/marine aquariums
Rinse ROX 0.8 carbon briefly under fresh water before use. Due to ultra-low dust content, extended rinsing is not required.
Measure dose at 1 tablespoon per 10 US gallons of system water.
Load carbon into a media reactor, canister filter, or place in a fine mesh bag in a moderate-flow area of the sump.
For reactor use, adjust flow to ensure water passes through the media bed evenly without fluidizing the pellets aggressively.
Monitor water clarity. ROX 0.8 acts quickly; noticeable improvement in color is typically visible within the first day or two.
Replace media every two weeks or sooner if water clarity or odor begins to decline.
Note: Do not use activated carbon immediately after adding medications to a treatment tank. Carbon will absorb the medication and reduce its effectiveness. Wait until the treatment period is complete, then use carbon to clear residual medication from the water.
